Dr. Stacy is a Michigan native. He grew up in Bay City, and lived there until he moved to Grand Rapids to attend Grand Valley State University. There he earned his Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences. While Dr. Stacy was at GVSU, he was also a member of the crew team. As a member of the crew team Dr. Stacy maintained a rigorous practice schedule and competed frequently in races with his team. While training for the final race of the season, he began experiencing debilitating lower back pain.
Seeking help, he went to a Medical Doctor. The doctor proceeded to treat his pain with medication and suggested he “lay off training”. With the biggest race of the year in less than two months, there was no time to lay off training. Not wanting to let his team down, he continued training while taking the prescribed medication. The medicine merely masked his symptoms, allowing him to practice. After the medicine would wear off he was left feeling worse than before. Dr. Stacy became frustrated with his lack of progress. Luckily, a close friend suggested a well respected chiropractor in the area.
Dr. Stacy began treatment with the chiropractor and within a few sessions, Dr. Stacy’s lower back pain completely subsided. As a result of his successful chiropractic treatment, he was able to continue training for the final race of the rowing season, the Dad Vail Regatta. His team managed to complete the race and even finished 6th out of approximately 50 teams.
After the rowing season ended Dr. Stacy sought a more individualized form of competition. The combination of his passion for working out and competition naturally led him to the sport of bodybuilding. He competed in multiple shows throughout Western Michigan over the course of three years. As a result of his intense training he began experiencing new injuries, all of which were treated with chiropractic care. The chiropractic care not only alleviated his current aches and pains, but allowed early detection and treatment of other issues before they could even arise. In this way, keeping up with care allowed Dr. Stacy to train more effectively, successfully, and ultimately become stronger. It was at this point that he discovered his passion for chiropractic- realizing he wanted to help others achieve the same results.
After undergrad, Dr. Stacy attended chiropractic school at National University of Health Sciences (NUHS). During his education at NUHS, Dr. Stacy was a highly committed and successful student. While enrolled in school, Dr. Stacy also worked as a chiropractic assistant. This allowed him to learn from an older, more experienced doctor, and put to use some of the concepts he learned during school. Dr. Stacy capitalized on every opportunity to expand his knowledge in chiropractic medicine. He attended many additional seminars and certification courses which include, but are not limited to: Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, Mckenzie method, Active Release Technique, Rock Tape, Motion Palpation institute, and Functional Dry needling.
